Principal's Corner

Welcome to the Performance Learning Center

I am very excited about continuing my career at the Catoosa Performance Learning Center (PLC). I was previously the Principal at Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School. I taught Computer Business Classes for 7 years, worked as an Assistant Principal/CTAE Supervisor for 8 years, and fulfilled the role of Principal for 7 years. I have just completed my first year as Principal at the PLC and will begin my 24th year in education in 2018-2019. I am a graduate of Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School, as well as my two sons which graduated in 2005 and 2007. I am married to Barry Vandiver and he has 2 sons and 2 grandsons. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, my Master of Education degree from Travecca Nazarene University, and my Specialist in Education degree from Tennessee Technological University.

Our PLC family atmosphere allows students to enter a comfortable and conducive learning environment where their main focus is to graduate with their class or to graduate early. We encourage student success in and out of the classroom. We offer smaller classroom sizes where the student has more "one on one" instruction. We offer classrooms that are designed for student and teacher collaboration. Our online curriculum encourages "self motivated" instruction where students work at their own pace. My first year at the PLC was very encouraging; we graduated 52 of our students. We are very excited about increasing our enrollment for next year, and encourage any Catoosa County High School student that prefers a "smaller learning" environment, to speak with your high school counselor about attending. You may be a student that has transferred into our county from another county and are lacking in course credit to play athletics. There are many circumstances that would inspire you to attend this "alternative high school". The PLC is an extension of the "traditional high school", therefore, you would graduate with your home school.

I am very fortunate to be a leader in this "smaller learning community" environment. If you have questions or are interested in enrolling at the Performance Learning Center you may see your high school Guidance Counselor or you may contact us directly at 706-861-2772 or email me at
